Rhonda’s experience comes from a journey of self-directed experimentation and a quest for technical and expressive excellence by learning from other professional artists. Her inspiration comes from the out of doors. She is a resident of Kawartha Lakes, where she built an art studio on her waterfront property. There she can look out the window of the studio and enjoy the beauty, while getting inspiration from the lake view in many conditions. A kayak lays ready for a gentle paddle into natures art.
Born in Campbelton, New Brunswick and raised in Ontario, her love of art and inspiration comes from many years spent living in Germany and traveling Europe in her twenties. Rhonda’s inspiration also comes from the connection she felt spending much time in the heart of Algonquin Park. Her many adventures paddling, 4x4 excursions and portaging the back woods, inspired her love of nature which is evident in her compositions to date.
Her unique style draws on her love of nature and close observation in all the beautiful details, from light hitting the trees to the shadows in the snow on a bright winters day.
Her main mediums are oils and acrylics but, she continues to challenge herself in watercolour, modeling paste, resin, wood working and design. Art comes in many forms and Rhonda continues to be open to new adventures in the arts. She actively participates in various artists workshops to continue to grow and find her way to her own voice in the art community.
Rhonda has successfully submitted pieces into the John B. Aird Gallery in Toronto and the Kawartha Art Gallery juried shows. She also contributed by entering art into fundraisers for the Kawartha Art Gallery. She looks forward to finding more time and getting involved with the local art community as she approaches retirement in the next few years.
Rhonda shares her love of art by offering painting sessions in her studio on weekends throughout the winters to help introduce art to her community and anyone interested in joining her on this art adventure. Rhonda’s hope is that through her art everyone can have a piece of the beautiful outdoors to enjoy in their homes.
